Took my kit car there for a brake and lamp inspection. I spoke with them on the phone and asked if they were familiar with special construction cars and they said they were. After completing the entire inspection Mark (who is a very nice guy) started asking about back up lights. They had me wait while they called the BAR and waited for a call back. (While I was waiting I called around and found that there were other shops that knew the regulations for my car and would pass it for $120 -$40 less). As I was waiting the owner asked if I needed help and I said, I would like to speak with Mark as I'm on my lunch hour and I don't have time to wait for the BAR so I'd like my car back and he flipped out! I was arguing my case and he calls me a redneck and tells me I'm stupid. I never said a derogatory word to him or Mark, I just felt like them charging me $159 for a 5 minute inspection and failing my car and having me wait while they research it was wrong. This is why I called them in the first place.
I ended up getting it passed by another shop who had been doing a lot of special construction and they called the BAR too and got a different answer. Doesn't matter who was right or wrong though, for the owner to act this way was unprofessional and inappropriate. The other shop said he's got a reputation for this and also ""being a crook."" I see I'm not alone.
I see a lot of good reviews here which is great I guess. To me it means this guy's got a a good side and you just have to be on it or he'll go off you and you're screwed.
