I took my car to the dealer for engien light on and had code for transmission problem, dealer told me over $5000 for the transmission, i was referred to auto care experts and they looked at my car and fixed it for $950.00, thanks guys,this shop is the best. more

DON'T DISMISS THIS REVIEW!!! I know that you probably saw that Auto Care Experts has 38(+) GREAT reviews, but if something sounds too good to be true, it often is. All of the reviews are paid for marketing. The firest review right now (as of 12/11/11) isn't even for a repair shop but for a fricking car wash. The company that they hired to write reviews messed up and put the wrong review in for Auto Care Experts. The review is titled Luxury Lathering and brags about how spotless their car is and the ""massaging chairs"" in the waiting area!!!! Click on the name of each reviewer, you will see that they leave 5 or more reviews a day for locations in San Diego, Sacramento, Freemont, NYC, San Jose, and more. One reviewer bragged about bringing their car to Purrfect auto service the same day as this place and said how wonderful each one was. If that was true, why go to 2 shops the same day??? Don't be fooled into going here. As for my service, I took my truck there for an oil change. I actually got a voucher in the mail for a free oil change (valued up to $29.95 with 4 quarts of oil) and thought I would try this place out. I have a wor van that needs serious engine work as of 2 days ago, so I need to find a shop to bring it too. I figured this voucher would be a good way for me to try out a new shop and see if I felt good bringing my van there for whay will probably be a $1,000 or more repair. For my oil change, Mark let me know that the voucher was only for a regular passenger car and that a full size truck like mine would cost more money. I understand that they take more oil, so I understand. When he gave me the work order to sign, it listed the oil change as $44,95 plus $6.00 for the extra oil. WTF?? An increase of 50% over the original labor? I asked him why it was more money (knowing that it is the same amount of labor to do a car or truck) and he said that they had bigger components, harder to get to, etc. This is a total lie. It was at this point that I checked their reviews on Yelp and saw that there were 3 reviews and all at one star. I completely understood and was glad that they had a bad name....but then...a lady brings her car in for some issues with her instrument panel and they bring it back to check it out. I asked her how she found the shop and she said that she picked it from all the great reviews online. I was confused becase I only saw the Yelp ones. I googled the shop and saw all the positive reviews on there; all at 5 stars. Knowing something stunk, I checked out all the reviewers and they were all professional reviews written to many companys that paid for it. Some of the reviews would be for a dentist's office in Sacramento stating that they have brought all of their family there for years, then the next one would be for a roofing company in San Diego that did great work on their house. These things just do not happen. Please be fore warned, I was taking this opportunity to find a great local shop and they screwed me over something as basic as an oil change by overcharging by 50%. Don't get your car stuck in there halfway into a major repair where you will have no choice other than for them to finish and take advantage of you for more than an extra $20 more

Just got my car washed and I am in a very good mood. I don't know why this place always puts me in such a good mood?! I think it's because of the kind staff or probably the fact that my car is spotless or MAYBE and most likely because of the massage chairs. Either way im one happy camper! more

Took my kit car there for a brake and lamp inspection. I spoke with them on the phone and asked if they were familiar with special construction cars and they said they were. After completing the entire inspection Mark (who is a very nice guy) started asking about back up lights. They had me wait while they called the BAR and waited for a call back. (While I was waiting I called around and found that there were other shops that knew the regulations for my car and would pass it for $120 -$40 less). As I was waiting the owner asked if I needed help and I said, I would like to speak with Mark as I'm on my lunch hour and I don't have time to wait for the BAR so I'd like my car back and he flipped out! I was arguing my case and he calls me a redneck and tells me I'm stupid. I never said a derogatory word to him or Mark, I just felt like them charging me $159 for a 5 minute inspection and failing my car and having me wait while they research it was wrong. This is why I called them in the first place. I ended up getting it passed by another shop who had been doing a lot of special construction and they called the BAR too and got a different answer. Doesn't matter who was right or wrong though, for the owner to act this way was unprofessional and inappropriate. The other shop said he's got a reputation for this and also ""being a crook."" I see I'm not alone. I see a lot of good reviews here which is great I guess. To me it means this guy's got a a good side and you just have to be on it or he'll go off you and you're screwed. more

My family and I have been taking our cars to Auto Care Experts for over 10 years and the shop has always been great to us. Their service and quality of jobs are fantastic and they fit us in any time. l have seen them stay past closing for us, they give us free loaner cars and good warranty and they are reasonable. I recommend this shop to every body more

These people are crooks. My experience was the following: overcharging for a brake/lamp inspection, attempting to charge me $160 to replace three light bulbs, lied about me being able to claim my brake certificate after my car passed brake inspection and not lamp inspection. Only after I called the Bureau of Automotive repair and verified that I was entitled my brake certificate, did they give it to me. They basically lied to my face and, when caught in the lie, acted like they said something else. Shady business practices such as these should be more than enough to persuade you to look elsewhere for automotive repairs. more

I was skeptical to bring my car into this place at first, when recommended by a friend. I generally go to a dealership to ensure that any work i need done gets done. To my surprise the guys here were awesome. So every few years my s2000 will have the same problem with it and needs to be adjusted. These guys did the job, amazingly fast and charged me less than half of what a dealership would. I didn't have to sign a ton of paperwork, or sit around forever. They were on top of everything the whole time and now my car has never run better. I find it hard to actually find a auto shop that is trust worthy, but I finally did. I will bring my car to this shop when ever I have trouble with my car now. more

I brought my car in because I thought I needed my brake pads changed, but they checked it out and told me that I could still drive on the pads I had for another 7,000-10,000 miles. Apparently, certain pads sound squeaky even if they aren't worn out yet. (that was the squeaking that prompted me to take my car in) They were completely honest and amazingly efficient!! This is definitely my new car repair shop for years to come! No hassles, no pressure, just honest service! more

Feedback from Auto Care Experts was timely. They kept in touch with status of my classic car (Body work & Paint). Spent more than I intended to, but they did a fine job of matching my "brilliant red" paint. Also - they painted an area that I was going to do myself, and this saved me lots of time. Many thanks for that. After my upholstery shop finishes, then it goes back to A.C.E. to re-install my rear window. Lastly, having been a purchasing agent most of my working career, I solicited bids from 4 body shops. A.C.E. was the only one interested in doing the work. Again, many thanks. I would recommend them to anyone looking for bodywork and/or paint. more
