Just wanted to say how incredibly disappointed I am in East Detroit Bakery. My future husband and I grew up in Eastpointe, fell inlove in Eastpointe, graduated from East Detroit. We felt the important need to keep as much as the city a part of our wedding as we could. Yesterday we started the journey for a wedding cake. Our first stop, East Detroit Bakery. My future husbands parents had a 25th anniversary party and they had gotten a cake from them back in Feb of 2010. For a VERY reasonable price. We walked in, was told to have a seat, and was greeted by a women who cared more about the guy sitting next to us sipping on a coffee, then possible clients. Being first time ""Cake buyers"" we had no idea what questions to ask, or even where to begin. She wasn't very friendly or helpful in any of this. ""Do you have a picture of what you want?"" We show her, gets up, leaves come back with 2 pieces of cake, then comes back with a price of $599 for a cake!!! I thought maybe it was a little ridiculous, considering it was buttercream, not very much detail and we weren't adding anything special. ALSO, considering that my future husbands mother payed only $225 dollars for a cake that fed 30 people less then ours. So we packed up, left and went to 2 other bakery shops who then, quoted us, for the exact same cake, over $250 less then what East Detroit Bakery did. I about had it with people over charging ""young couples"" who are having a wedding. I probably won't ever step foot in there again. more
