Inflexible management 6/9/2011

Beautiful rooms, lovely dining room and good food. Be aware that if your parent needs any assistance you will have to find a private caregiver. We moved our dad six months ago, when he had mild dementia and now find ourselves hurrying to find him assisted living. We could keep him at Palm Court, but management is not flexible in their pricing and paying for 24 hour caregiver in addition to high cost of apartment is prohibitively expensive. Management would not allow us to move him into a smaller unit at a new resident's rate, which would have saved us $800 per month. Be forewarned, that it "only gets worse," and might have been better to have placed him in a facility that would be able to accommodate his needs as he worsened. Also, we apparently signed a 30 day out notice, and even though we are moving him for medical reasons, managemnt insists on charging us for 30 days, an extra $5000. Good luck - this is a difficult time and one is left with hard choices all the way around. more
