I wish I had read the reviews before attending my group session.
Let me also add, the Dr. has his doctorate in philosophy.
I assumed he was a medical doctor, of at least a doctor of hypnotherapy (if there is such a thing).
There are more reviews and one that's filtered if you look under Dr. Bill Stiles.
The office waiting room is a cramped, chaotic mess. You'd think with the amount of money he gets per person he could spend some on making a good first impression, instead of spending it on suits of armor and cheap Egyptian replica ""art"".
After having an overweight staffer (her defense was that she just had heart surgery) hand us cheap binders that contained info about what was good to eat and what was bad, we went into a room that I could only describe as creepy. Suits of armor, amphorae and vials, decorative ""ancient"" artwork...it was absolutely tacky and not at all calming or soothing.
What should have tipped me off about what this really was ( just an intro to a diet plan I'd have to follow in order to lose weight) were all of the framed certificates that showed that the Dr. had completed various nutrition courses.
After the required reading segment, while waiting in the creepy room, you get the joy of listening to the Dr. ***advertise*** his business.
Why would I want to listen to a half hour of old commercials????
***I'M ALREADY AT YOUR OFFICE, I HAVE ALREADY PAID YOU***
Why are you still trying to sell me on this?????
Once the session is over, you get some CDs to take home. One is a recording of your session and the others are basically the Dr. Dean Ornish diet plan food lists being read by Dr. Stiles. The CD about the foods you should eat is so poorly recorded that its difficult to listen to. It actually sounds like it was recorded off of an old cassette.
I still can't believe that I spent $250 on this. Oh- it was $250 payable in cash. No credit cards.
Save some money go to the Dr. Dean Ornish center (there's one near The Waterfront) or save even more and buy any Dean Ornish book. It's seriously the same as going to Dr. Stiles...you'll just save $250 and a trip to tackyland.
I'm adding a disclaimer to this, because I was notified that based on reviewer Dana B's negative review the Dr's office called her and asked why she left a negative feedback AND the Doctor responded to the feedback himself by giving his practice a 5 star review and releasing information from her session!!! :
If I am contacted in any way, shape or form by ANY of the clinic's staff, or if any information about me or my session is revealed on this or any other site, I will be forced to contact my lawyer
