Yesterday, May, 17, 2011, ?I received a phone call from a member of Dr. Bill Stiles' staff about my review of my session at The Hypnotherapy Clinic last year. The woman was very confrontational, immediately demanding to know why I wrote what I did on Yelp. When I explained that I left an honest review of my personal experience I was repeatedly interrupted. I explained that I have a right to my opinion and did not want to get into an argument with her. Then, I ended the call.
?
At no point during our exchange did the woman apologize for the negative experience I had nor did she ask if there was anything that could have been done to remedy the situation. I felt like I was put on the defensive as soon as she started the conversation with me. Her actions leave me feeling even more justified about what I posted.?I still am unsure of why they called me nor do I know what lengths they went to find my phone number.
?
A mere 2 hours after she called me, a positive review appeared after mine, and then immediately after that one, a post was made by Dr. Stiles himself addressed directly at me.?Sadly, his post to me publicly aired my personal health history which I shared in confidence with Dr. Stiles at the time of my visit. I sit here completely confused and outraged that a doctor (medical or otherwise) would feel justified to publicly reveal a client's personal health history in an online forum, clearly in an attempt at revenge of some sort. (THANK YOU, YELP for pulling his post down!)
?
I have to admit all of the actions that have taken place by Dr. Stiles and his staff at The Hypnotherapy Clinic further demonstrates the utter lack of professionalism and even more so enforces what I thought over a year ago.?I feel personally attacked by Dr. Bill Stiles and The Hypnotherapy Clinic for simply sharing my opinion on a review site.? I, unfortunately, paid for my services to them and I merely wanted to share my opinion.? ?
?
I am in the process of finding out what legal rights I have at this time. ?
Below is my original review of Dr. Bill Stiles on Yelp from 12/18/2010:
Dr. Bill Stiles IS A QUACK! I went to The Hypnotherapy Clinic in March to be hypnotized for weight loss in one of the group sessions. At nearly $300, it was the biggest waste of money. I'm embarrassed that I squandered my money on his services, I but I feel it's more important to spread the word to others so that they may learn from the mistake I made. ??
Bill Stiles' weight loss advertisements are completely misleading. What he never mentions anywhere in his ads is that in all of his ""success stories"" the participants were required to follow a strict diet regimen: all fruits and vegetables, lean proteins and cutting out nearly all sugars and carbohydrates. This is certainly a healthy approach, but anyone could drop large amounts of weight by following such a limited diet plan. Hypnosis wouldn't even be necessary.
??He himself doesn't look healthy at all. Just laying eyes on him as he entered the room I instantly lost any faith in his abilities and had my doubts that a man who looked as unhealthy as he does, could help any of us. And the room! It looks as if you just stepped into a Ripley's Believe It Or Not museum. It does not look like the room of a doctor who possess any credibility. It's a pack rat's dream: with goofy knickknacks overflowing shelving and filling every corner of the room. ??
Upon leaving the hypnosis session, you are sent home with an option to buy a $5 cookbook to follow the diet plan, and a handful of hypnosis CDs to listen to that are of extremely poor quality. They are scratchy and impossible to listen to.??I'm sure there are legitimate hypnotists out there who are truly talented at what they do and have the ability to help people. But to me, Bill Stiles represents an operation that cons innocent people out their hard-earned money.
