Mediocre meats, indifferent service and overpriced.
I can't think of a single reason to return to any of this mini-chain's three locations set in suburban strip malls. While they do offer Texas-style beef brisket, a rarity in these parts, none of their meats are notably good. The brisket was less than remarkable and the Carolina pulled pork was greasy and thoroughly unappetizing.
And the staff seemed to be on autopilot, never asking if we were satisfied or even offering a thanks when they presented the bill at the meal's end. We received our bill and were simply told, ""They can take that at the cash register.""
Danny's offered a wide variety of sauces including a catchup-like tomato sauce, an odd tasting mustard-based sauce and a very poor rendering of Eastern Carolina vinegar sauce. All were disappointing.
I've got to wonder how this place had grown to three locations and achieved some recognition in the area when there are so many other authentic BBQ spots where they have a real pit smoker going that you can smell when you get near them. Try The Pit or Clyde Coopers in Raleigh, or Bullocks in Durham for authentic BBQ.
