I first discovered Island Rescue in 2003 while I was at college I found a cat and when I brought her home for Thanksgiving I had her spayed there. I called around to a couple of places before someone told me about I.R. Vets wanted 250.00 for a spay for a cat. Island Rescue...under 100, including a rabies. I see everyone complaining how unkempt and dirty the place is...well, a lot of unaltered pets walk through there, they pee, express their anals and poop all over. The place serves a purpose, a cheaper alternative if you want (and should) have your animals altered, low cost vaccines and heartworm testing...if you don't mind waiting a little while the doctors are pretty great and the staff works there butt off to get as many animals through their doors as possible. I had both my dogs altered there and where I plan to have them get their vaccines. If I ever need X rays or something more serious, I'd take them elsewhere, just because this place is more of a clinic rather than a hospital. Remember, pets are a luxury not a necessity, they cost money and sometimes you have to drop some serious $$$.
