My 86 year-old mother was pressured into signing a contract to purchase hearing aids from McDonald Hearing Aid Center after responding to a mail solicitation she received. The contract gave her two options to pay for the $4,500 hearing aids -- cash on delivery, or financed at a high interest rate through "Care Credit". With no assets and a small monthly SSI check, cash on delivery was not possible. McDonald's did not even run any sort of credit check or have my mother complete a credit application before tricking her into signing a high interest financing arrangement. THE CONTRACT ALSO INCLUDED A PARAGRAPH STATING THAT CANCELLATION FOR ANY REASON WOULD RESULT IN A 15% CANCELLATION FEE.
