12/20/2011 UPDATE: Pep Boys reviewed the invoice and agreed there was an overcharge on labor. Resolution was reduction in bill by $160 which was a fair price. No complaints with the work and kudos for reaching out to address price problem. But I wish I didn't have to scream from the rafters to get it squared away
==============================================================
Had my '92 S10 pickup towed there after breakdown nearby. All it needed was a ""tuneup"" which was diagnosed after a $90 ""diagnostic evaluation"".
So the tune up meant replacing spark plus & wires ($32 parts + $170 labor) and the distributor cap ($23 parts + $110 labor) and the ignition coil ($23 parts + $100 labor). And then $56 for a warranty on their work (!) which you can't avoid. .
So unless you're in the market to spend $500 for a standard tune-up, LOOK ELSEWHERE.
