My father-in-law, a senior, needed a downed limb and tree removed as well as others pruned. Owner Jeff Doyle (JD) recommended a fertilizer treatment at $75 per tree. The work was done quickly in mid-November by boring shallow holes and pouring granular fertilizer in the holes. JD stated the treatment would be good for several years. A subsequent review of MSU's website revealed the method and timing of this treatment would yield minimal results. JD agreed to come back out the following week to give an estimate on taking down the tree and never showed up. A follow up call also went unanswered. A second contractor came out to give an estimate. He indicated 2 of the 7 trees fertilized had sufficient rot and should never have been treated. In sum, JD made a quick buck off a senior by recommending an expensive fertilizer treatment rather than running chain saws and a chipper. To his credit, he did cut and remove the downed limb.
