We had a flight leaving PDX at 7:00 am, and called Broadway Cab at 4:30 to get a cab to the airport. (And YES I do realize that it would have been wise to reserve a cab in advance - but that is not the point here, so please read the entire review before commenting on my lack of planning skills.)
We realized that it was a busy weekend with Halloween coming up. However, the dispatchers ought to at least have been honest with us so that we could find another way to get to the airport. We were lied to several times by several different people when we called to check the status of our cab! One guy even told me that our cab was on its way and would be there in a couple of minutes. When I called back 10 minutes later, another guy told me that I had been misinformed and that they didn't even have a driver lined up for us yet.
I completely understand being busy and overwhelmed. But dispatchers need to tell you when you call that they have no idea how long it could take and that you might end up waiting for hours. I'd prefer to hear the truth, even if I don't like it, than sit on my porch for hours like a sucker because someone decided to tell me ""your cab's on the way"" to get me off the phone.
Take a lesson, Broadway: we finally called Radio Cab and they put us on hold while they checked availability, and they found a driver who could get to our place in 10 minutes. Now THAT is customer service.
