My husband and I moved to California in 1994. We are both airline pilots and had no family in the area. I personally met with Rocio Catano to request assistance finding a live-in nanny to help us care for our two young children. As a working mom, I felt guilt-ridden and anxious about the entire process. Rocio was confident she could help us and that immediately put me at ease. We interviewed several candidates and hired a nanny who was with us for nine years. \r

Our kids are grown now: our daughter is 18 and a plebe at the U.S. Naval Academy. Our son, 16, was the reason we established contact with Rocio's agency once again. This past October, he suffered a traumatic brain injury while skateboarding. His stay in ICU was two weeks, followed by two months in post-acute care in another state. \r

When the accident happened, I called Rocio and asked her to use her best judgment to select a housekeeper. We needed help during my absence, but since I could not meet or interview candidates, I advised Rocio the person needed to be trustworthy, a self-starter, work well independently, and do with only phone directions. Rocio sent us a housekeeper the next day. She continues working with us as needed. Furthermore, in a gesture that epitomizes Rocio's compassion and ethic of care, she paid the housekeeper's wages that first day. \r
