Sure wish I could give negative stars. Our old A/C unit was having issues and was in need of replacement. I called Thompson because of what seemed like a good rep, but now I know it was just slick marketing.
The pushy salesman showed up a little late, but not too bad. Showed us all kinds of models and took measurements of the house. We spent about $6,000 on a Heil brand.
The installers showed up nearly 90 minutes late, making me in turn late for work. I had my dad stop by so that someone was there during the install. Apparently, they had no questions as no one called me during the day. Arriving home, I found a messy laundry room and outside work that looked like it was done by amateurs. At least the house was cooler.
The issues started not long after and I attempted to contact them. No one every followed up with us on the install nor contacted us about our issue. Really? No customer survey after spending 6 grand. What??!?
It wasn't until recently when I flamed them on Twitter that I actually got their attention. Schedules finally meshed enough to have them send a tech out yesterday. Yep, he saw the same thing I did. A/C comes on, temp goes down one degree in the room, but the thermostat reads a degree higher. That's issue number 1. The second issue is that they installed the heating side for an electric furnace, we have gas. That possibly explains the lower heat we experienced last winter.
The tech says the thermostat needs to be replaced (no kidding), but he doesn't have one left. (Ok, why are you here if you don't have parts???) He asked when someone else could come out. Sure, tomorrow at 4:30. Well, it is almost 5:30 and no tech.
****** UPDATE ********
I'd love to say they've fixed my problems, but they just can't help but continue to screw up. After the thermostat was finally fixed by the over an hour late tech AND I told them to never call me again, I get a sales call today (28 Apr 2011) on my cell phone. It is against the law to make such calls without permission, plus I already told them to not contact me. Just more examples why they totally fail at customer service.
Now to save up for a new A/C unit as this one can't keep the house below 80 in the summer.
