A scallop medallion is not a whole scallop....think pressed ham. After processing scallops they ""glue"" the scallop pieces and byproduct together with food glue...think egg white....and press into a log shape. After the ""pressed scallop pieces"" are bound by the food glue they cut them into medallions that look like a real scallop.
Truth in advertising should insist that a consumer is notified that this is a scallop derivative product and not a whole scallop.
Pros: Lots of food
Cons: questionable quality
