I've been at Trattoria Romana just once. And I'm definitely not going back.
I was very excited to go cause I've been told it was one of the best Italian restaurants in Staten Island. So disappointing.
The service was very good. Can't say a word about it.
I ordered Fettuccine Paglia e Fieno. Way too much heavy cream and really not enough salted. I wondered if there was any salt at all. It was badly cooked like any other restaurant that don't know how to cook pasta. there was a lot of food, big quantity and little quality.
My husband ordered a special of the day, Gnocchi with sausage in a red sauce. The only way it could be nice was if the sausage was grounded into the sauce. But as I feared there were whole sausage over a red sauce with no flavour. The Gnocchi were ok. Definitely not home made. The sausage wasn't fresh. That sausage was old.
I highly appreciated the quality of the extravirgin olive oil on the table and the fresh pugliese bread. These were the only two ITALIAN things in the restaurant.
Pros: excellent extra virgin olive oil on the table/the bread
Cons: bad cooking!
