My glasses had a broken hinge, and all of the eyeglass shops I went to said they couldn't fix it. The problem I found is that most shops can't solder, and thus they can only replace whole (unbroken) parts. To replace my current frames would have cost about $250, and I hoped that I could reduce that cost somewhat.
After reading a positive internet review, I went to Doug Riley's Eyeglass Repairs shop (115 Market St in Durham). He soldered on two new hinges (for symmetry), and had everything reassembled in less than an hour.
My glasses look great, and best of all, it only cost me $25. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone.
Pros: he can solder, and thus can fix almost anything
Cons: lost people occasionally come in for directions
