Two weeks ago I went to the Belgian Waffle in Midvale. It didn't surprise me when they sat me in one of their rooms off their main dining room as I was a single and most restaurants don't like singles, we take up space where a family could... sit. While I was sitting waiting for the host to bring me a cup of coffee, I noticed that my hand was sticking to the table. I made the host aware of this and he apologized and brought a damp cloth and attempted to clean the table. I could see that he didn't understand the nature of the film that covered the table and decided to wait for my server. When she came in I voiced my concerns to her and she brought back a clone of the damp cloth that the host had used and attempted to clean the dirty film. I explained to her that I was a commercial cabinetmaker for many years and that a damp cloth was not going to cut it. She just kept rubbing harder and harder until I thought she was going to have a heart attack. I should have left then but I was famished. I was reminded of Jack Nicholson in the movie "" As Good as it Gets"" when he was asked why he used plastic utensils and he replied it was a judgment call, that he had seen the help. I feel the same way about the Belgian Waffle and won't be eating there again.
Pros: better than lenny's
Cons: filthy and the help doesn't know how to clean it
