Last night @ 7:30 we decided to go for ice cream and make the 10 mile drive to route 44...we brought our 2 dogs with us. Only anticpating a nice trip and looking forward to my coconut ice cream cone with my husband and 2 WELL BEHAVED, LEASHED dogs, I was disappointed to have had to pass on the experience altogether. As we pulled in and parked the car I noticed that the grassy picnic area by the side of the pond at the ice cream shop was empty...Perfect, I thought...plenty of room and seats available...we'll sit by the pond with the dogs, eat our cones and be on our way...Well...I no sooner took my dogs out of the car and headed to the picnic area when the gray-haired man on the bench chased me down and informed me that under no circumstances were dogs allowed in the picnic area...another woman was also getting out with her dog, a small poodle and she was carrying the dog and he also refused her access to the open picnic area...I decided at that point that I was not going to leave my dogs in the car, nor eat on pavement when a perfectly nice and deserted picnic area awaited so we left the establishment without making a purchase...I just could not justify $10 in ice cream with that kind of unfriendly treatment. As we pulled away the man was apologizing that ""It's not ME, it's a board of health regulation""...REALLY? I can see NO DOGS inside the establishment or even in line to place orders but a large grassy picnic area...What BOH reg is that??? Give me a break! We're not likely to ever patronize that place again... We did travle to route 100 and went to Abby's Creamery where we were pleasantly surprised to see a Classic Car Show at Town Line Farm across the street...Well, that's our new ice cream spot!
Pros: Good quality ice cream
Cons: Man sits outside and polices the parking lot
