I brought in a listless 2 yr old cat- obviously sick. A full range of tests were ordered. The cat had a slightly elevated temperature. The tests cost over $400.00.for kidney, feline leukemia, liver, etc, etc. To be fair, they did have me give the ok, but a frenzied pet owner would pay anything to find out what is wrong with a suffering animal. This was a young cat. Why not just take a white cell count and try antibiotics first before going further? In fact, after another $150 for water infusion and antibiotics, the cat is fine.
