My name is Howard Nielsen. I am the president of U.S. Air Conditioning and Heating. I hold a master electrician's license, a master plumbing license, as well as a home improvement license. Our company is a member of the Terryville Chamber of Commerce and has no complaints with the Suffolk County Consumer Affairs Bureau. I have been in business since 1976 and have serviced and installed air conditioning and heating systems for over 30,000 clients. I have never gotten a criticism like the one from Robert McKenna As all stories have two sides, I would like to tell mine. Mr. McKenna contracted to have his A/C system installed in April of 2007. The price of the install was $4,400 including electric work. His furnace was 12 years old as was his humidifier. He told the salesman, Ronnie, that it wasn't working. Ronnie advised him to buy a new one. Mr. McKenna said that he would repair the old one. The new system was installed on 4/12/07. Shortly after that, Mr. McKenna wrote this letter: Good Day, Just wanted to drop a line to say that we are most pleased with not only your service and products but your entire staff is so friendly and helpful that it was a pleasure doing business with you from start to finish. It is really hard to find a company who employs people who seem to enjoy their work and go out of their way to help customers. We would be happy to be used as a reference to anyone. Keep up the good work, Bob McKenna Two months after the install we were called back to his home to repair a duct that was leaking air. The repair had nothing to do with the install but, I told the technicians we wouldn't charge Mr. McKenna because we had only installed his system two months before. In December of 2007, there was another call from Mr. McKenna saying his humidifier was not working. I went on the call myself. I found after much testing that the original installer 12 years ago didn't use wire nuts and just taped the wires. I installed the wire nuts and cleaned out the humidifier. I told Mr. McKenna that I wouldn't charge him the full price of the repair but only the cost of a trip charge and diagnostic fee of $99.00 plus tax. He signed my invoice then refused to pay. I left his home and didn't here from him again until June of 2008. He called and said his A/C was not working. He was told that unless he paid the $99.00 he would not get any service. That was the last time I heard from him until I found myself and my company on this web page. I would have been more than glad to talk to Mr. McKenna if he had paid his outstanding bill. Stay tuned and see the next chapter unfold on People's Court. July 1st 2009! more
