A good school, run by a good group. 2/8/2009

As someone who has studied at a few different locations of the Chinese Shaolin Center I can say that the newer reviews are full of whining and spite. The way Instructor Dean teaches is the same way the Elder Masters teach. Master Jason, for all his praise was a good teacher. But he was not teaching what the Elder Masters are. The problem everyone has is you learn a slightly different method with every different teacher and that is ok. I have taken 3 different styles of martial arts since I was 11 and I was rushed in all of them. But the one thing you always need to remember, you are the one taking the class. If you don't want to test yet, you just say so. Simple as that. \r \r I have worked with Master Carr, I have worked with The Elder Masters, I have worked with Instructor Dean and I have worked with Instructor Michael. I have gotten the chance to study with some of the most ranking students under the Elder masters. To give Dean a poor review only because he isn't Master Carr shows that you don't have a great appreciation for the art in general. You can disagree with me as this is only my opinion, but thats how I feel. \r \r The school has come a long ways since Dean took it over. It is much more friendly and open. Classes are convenient and full of a good time. I have been in the art of Shao Lin with the Chinese Shao Lin Centers for many years and I wouldn't want to learn anywhere else. If you are looking for a school that helps the body and mind then stop by the Chinese Shao Lin Center and check it out. Pros: Class times, the people, the art Cons: The school it self could be a bit bigger, but you work with what you have. more
