One Star is Too Many 12/4/2009

I am very wary of vaccinations, and told the Banfield vet as much. I have an Italian Greyhound - very low body fat, so the dosage needs to be adjusted.\r Vet gave my dog a shot and within 6-8 hours, my dog was extremely sick, and frighteningly lethargic. I came back first thing the next morning. Not only did they tell me that other dogs had gotten deathly ill from the ""same batch"" of vaccine, to add insult to literal injury, they charged me for both the return office visit - $40 - on top of the original visit, as well as charging me $20 for the treatment shot to counteract the ""bad vaccine"" they had given my dog.\r I find it heinous that they would have used vaccine from a batch that had already proven suspect on my dog - anyone's dog really - especially after I expressed my concern about his breed's sensitivity to vaccines. \r I will never take my dog there again. \r \r I've also run across the whole ""Wellness Plan"" shenanigans with them. I stopped using Banfield regularly after I brought my dog in for neutering, and was told it would cost about $350 - $450. I asked to see the paperwork again the morning I was to drop off the dog and was shocked to see the total at over a thousand. When I insisted on seeing the ""bare minimum"" price up front, it still came to about $700, but could get a ""break"" if I signed up for the Plan. I took my dog to work with me that day, and have used a different vet ever since.\r I don't think I would have used Banfield for even the routine vaccination above if I hadn't gotten an unexpected day off, and my regular vet couldn't fit me in, and I wanted to get the vaccinations done quickly.\r Next time I'll take my baby to my regular vet and get it done right.\r What a nightmare. Pros: Petsmart is awesome, but... Cons: You get questionable vet care at Banfield. more
