I've received care for over 20 yrs for depression and went to SBMH because insurance covered it. This has been the *worst* experience I have ever had.
My therapists were fine, but newly out of school and were not therapeutically supervised (met w/ a supervisor 1x a week to discuss productivity, it would seem rather than particular issues of clients). I was told that in order to see a prescriber, I needed to be in therapy a month. After that month, they would not submit a referral until I obtained prior psychiatric records. When I faxed them in, the supervisor didn't tell my therapist to file them in my file, so they got ""lost"".
After 4 months, I finally got into see a doc, who is there only 1x a month. He had not reviewed my prior records (they weren't in the file) and then insinuated that I had not sent them in. The supervisor did locate my paperwork, and when it was in the file, the doc still didn't look at it.
Meanwhile, my depression worsened while I didn't get the medical support I needed (it is very controllable with BOTH therapy and medication) and I needlessly went through a lot of pain and aggravation.
Whenever I told anyone I had SBMH for a provider, I was reassured they are considered ""bottom of the barrel"" in terms of service, at least from the Weymouth office.
I would NOT recommend this agency to ANYONE.
Pros: Will do therapy in yr home
Cons: Disorganized, MDs only in office 1x a month, etc. etc.
