This was my first ever spa visit...a gift from a friend for four of us...a ladies day out on her. I indicated on my sheet that I had sensitive skin, but did not think to mention not to touch my face since A. I didn't think a back and body message would include touching my face and B. I didn't think I'd be burned/scarred.
Somehow, during the therapist's pulling in an upward motion with her nail around my temples and in combination with the chamomile oil she used (which I found out later is similar botanically to RAGWEED!!), my face was burned and scratched at the same time. It left me first with a purple, crepey burn mark for about a week. Now over a year later, I have a PERMANENT crepey depression in the area beneath my eye at the top of the apple of my cheek. Unfortunately, it looks like an inch long 1/8th inch wide checkmark WRINKLE...with very deep lines on either side.
And the spa's insurance company only paid half of my medical bills to treat it, which in the end did absolutely nothing to improve it. Really pathetic considering I told them about it immediately, revisited the spa to show it to them right after it happened and they agreed that the mark was likely caused by some of the oil getting inside my pores in combo with the nail of the therapist. The owner had very little if any sympathy in regard to the injury. Don't they have a responsibility to be more careful about women's tender facial skin and at least letting them know that chamomile oil is like putting RAGWEED all over your face and body?
I am not out to damage the spa's reputation, but I cannot get over this awful scar on my face and the fact that I was never properly compensated for the cost of getting it checked and treated.
So I feel my only restitution to to post that I am personally sick over this and offer this information so others are forewarned about facial sensitivities during spa visits, particularly at the Woodhouse Day Spa in Franklin. Be careful. If something unusual happens during your visit, they will fight coverage of your costs.
Cons: Was scarred on my face at Woodhouse Day Spa in Franklin TN
