To start off, going to a critical care center for pets will always be a difficult endeavor. It's costly, your pet is in crisis, and you are putting your trust in staff you haven't worked with. Having worked with several vets in the west burbs and also with specialists in Schaumburg and Lisle, I feel compelled to share a deeply positive recommendation for the AVAH staff, particularly Dr. Mazzei and his excellent techs. He's an internal medicine specialist and gave the best care for our 10 year old Siamese cat who came in, almost lifeless in ketonic shock. They were realistic about our cat's chances, reviewed costs and gave us hope where appropriate. Most importantly they assisted us in making an informed choice regarding his care. While the bill was expensive, the care, communication, and follow through that continues a month and a half after the hospitalization really turned things around for our cat.
