I tried to save the life of some local feral cats. After I'd captured them every place I contacted told me I'd have to spend in excess of $100 per cat for spaying/neutering, shots, etc or else they would euthanize them. They weren't mine but I did not want to see them destroyed I just needed to stop them from breeding. Then I found the Humane Society in Vallejo. They put out publications promoting catch, spay and release and their website proudly states we do not euthanize animals. I was glad I had finally found a solution. I called and asked a few questions and the answers just did not sound right. I kept on asking and was finally told that they took the cats and carried them next door to the pound who then euthanized them. I contacted the chapter president and told him that the subtle difference between explicit and implicit euthanasia was playing with words and that the end results were the same. i asked him to specifically state in their publications and on their website what they did. He refused. Since they wont tell you the truth I will. Don't waste time with these folks. Go to the Marin Humane Society or Solano Feral Cat. I've dealt with the first and been recommended to the second. The truth should not be hard to know at least when it comes to a non-profit.
Pros: They're closed two days a week
Cons: They are dishonest
