Not a great experience 8/7/2008

This store has a lot of pretty options but I felt uncomfortable with the sales tactics. I did find a dress that was quite pretty at this store. The dress was at the high end of the budget. I was also told that the dress would need about $300 in alterations. Although it was over budget, I was pretty decided upon this dress, until the sales pitch began. As I was taking the dress off, the saleslady came over and said ""I JUST found out that this gown is going out of style. However, they can make one more, just for you, but it's going to cost $100-$200 more"". I thought that was kind of sketchy...why did the price suddenly go up? I said ""well if they are making one more, just for me, then I won't need alterations, right?"" (because I figured if it was made ""just for me"" then it would be made for my measurements). The saleslady said that I would still need the alterations. So that was a bit frustrating. It seemed like they were just trying to squeeze another $200 out of me. I left without making a decision, because I really needed to think about whether or not I wanted to go $500 over budget. The saleslady called me the next day, and left a message saying that she figured out a way to get the dress down in price. That was nice to hear, but it just seemed a little weird--like if I had bought the dress 1 day earlier, then I would have paid way too much. I wondered if I waited another day if the price would keep going down (it didn't). I didn't end up buying the dress because the sales tactics just frustrated me so I decided to have a dress custom made instead. Pros: decent selection Cons: overpriced, annoying sales tactics more
