My husband and I bought our Yorkshire Terrier from Marie Larkin three and a half years ago. When Colby was a year old he was diagnosed with a kidney disorder in which his kidneys never formed correctly from birth. Because of this, he is not allowed to eat anything with protein and is on a special prescription diet. Last night, we found out that he has a genetic disorder that happens to dogs that are not bred well called luxating patella. This is a progressive problem that can lead to arthritis and surgery. It is treated with anti-inflamatoryies but because of his kidney disorder, Colby cannot take the medication.
