Dear bmango sorry about your bad experience, AA closed meetings are only for and to help alcoholics. This is for anonymity so the alcoholic feels safe and comfortable. For example if someone brought a male to a woman?s meeting where women?s health or thinking are discussed some woman might feel uncomfortable or not even go. Note there are open AA meetings where anyone can go. There is an open speaker AA meeting at the SFC on Sunday morning. Randy is a good guy he spends a lot of his time volunteering and helping alcoholics without compensation. Note there there are also Alanon meetings at the SFC where friends and relatives of alcoholics can go.
Pros: offers help
Cons: members not perfect
