Editorial review from Citysearch 2/5/2013

Mark B. The SFC is a great place I like the meetings and the people are awesome!!! I first went there on a day when i was in trouble, I did not want to drink but i was in a bad place mentally. I stayed all day and went to meetings and talked to people. i got alot of support and didnt drink. Now here it is three months later and I am still sober and attending meetings at the SFC. I am so gratefull to have such a wonderfull place to go :) more

Aoother One of God's Many Blessing 4/4/2012

When my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, I needed an afternoon meeting after work. SFC provided that. I was warmly received and have been going there ever since. God gave this place to me and I've been attending there ever since. I thank God for ALL the beautiful people HE has placed in my life that help me one day at a time. more

AA and the Suburbanship saved my life and my family 12/5/2008

I walked in this club scared, alone and having lost everything important to me (family, friends and my job) because of alcoholism. I was welcomed with open arms and met several women who have walked in my shoes. They bought me a big book and took time out of their busy lives to help me begin my journey in AA. Today I am 5 years sober, have my family and friends supporting me and loving me. I have also met so many new friends who are a big part of my continued sobriety. My son is 12 and I asked him what he wanted for Christmas this year and he told me that he already got his wish and that was me! Pros: Kindness, support, trust and 52 meetings a week more

Not Bad 11/13/2008

Bob P. is a great man to meet there. He helped me stay sober to this day. Like any place their are people you are going to like and some you don't. It's a great place to get sober and some of the meetings are great some not so great. Try them all and find the 1 you like. I met my wife there and we have been married for over 6 years. Stay away from the clicks, just go for meetings and BINGO! Pros: Meetings, Special events, Great old timers Cons: Clicks & Gossip more

Saved my life! 9/28/2008

I walked into the Suburban Fellowship Center 4 years ago without any hope of living a normal life. Today I have it all, a beautiful wife, children that respect and look up to me, a nice home, great friends, family and most of all self respect. Pros: Thumbs Up, great people, smiles and laughter more

A haven/refuge for alcoholics or friends and relatives of alcoholics 7/12/2008

Dear bmango sorry about your bad experience, AA closed meetings are only for and to help alcoholics. This is for anonymity so the alcoholic feels safe and comfortable. For example if someone brought a male to a woman?s meeting where women?s health or thinking are discussed some woman might feel uncomfortable or not even go. Note there are open AA meetings where anyone can go. There is an open speaker AA meeting at the SFC on Sunday morning. Randy is a good guy he spends a lot of his time volunteering and helping alcoholics without compensation. Note there there are also Alanon meetings at the SFC where friends and relatives of alcoholics can go. Pros: offers help Cons: members not perfect more

Losers Anonymous! 7/22/2007

A ""man"" named Randy heads the AA meetings here and is a really poor excuse for a human being. I was taking my friend here on Sunday afternoons for meetings and just because I said I wasn't an alcoholic, he determined that I was unwelcome in their rinky dink meetings. This guy is a real loser--CLOSED MEETINGS FOR A CLOSED MIND! They should add one more step to their 12-step program--step 13--become a human being!! I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone, much less alcoholics who need a positive environment. It's a complete waste of space. It's a weak person who feels threatened by anyone different than himself. I can see now why this Randy character became an alcoholic. With most, it's a genetic predisposition, but with him it's just a lack of character. Cons: everything more
