At 75,000 miles, my car had a left side head gasket leak (external). After researching the problem, found that there is a technical service bulletin on this problem (WWP99) for Subaru?s as this is a common problem. I bought the car from Pence Subaru, so decided to call them in regards to what I had found, after calling Pence service and giving the last 8 of the VIN, the service manager said that my car was not covered under this ?recall? and would costs $2200 to fix since the car was out of warranty. I then decided to called Moore Cadillac/Subaru on W. Broad street because they are closer to my home, gave the last 8 of the VIN and their service manager said that this was car was in fact covered by the recall and that he would contact Subaru for me even though its out of warranty. The service manager managed to have Subaru fix the repairs for FREE - saved me $2200 to make one phone call. I am not trying to generalize, just relaying my experience with the Service Dept at Pence.
