this was my third visit here. My first was on a really, really bad blind date. I ended up leaving after only a drink, but I remembered the lively crowd and the colorful decor and knew I would return. I've now been two other times and my visits were consistent: great food and great service. I actually expected bad service my first time there because the place was packed and it was a while before the maitre 'd could acknowledge us, but my water glass was never empty, and the service was prompt, friendly and gracious. the food both times was flavorful, well prepared, and pleasing to the eye. I have worked for years in this industry at some of the best, highest zagat rated restaurants in NYC so I sometimes can have a critical eye, and I am happy to have found a place that, for at least the two times I've visited, has exceeded my expectations. I fully plan to return. I took my father who was visiting from Texas (we know our Mexican food) and he was blown away. ALSO: the place has a roaming mariachi bands (fun!) and seems to be a great place for large parties of adults but may not be the best place for kids who want to run around. it's loud (but not annoyingly so) and the tables are tight, but I still love the place.
Pros: sangria, guacamole, good for large, festive adult gatherings
Cons: too loud for intimate moments
