Money Hungry Operation 12/30/2008

I went to VCA Central Animal Hospital in Sept 08 on a Sunday because I had been there in the past and hadn't had any problems. My dog needed emergency surgery and I was given a quote of $3000. When I went to sign the quote it was changed to $5500 to $6000. The girl pressured me to sign it saying ""It will ONLY be around $3000. If it is more, then you can talk to the manager."" So I signed the form, not realizing they put the dog under my mom's account. I was told that I couldn't see my dog for 3 days since it would be too upsetting to her and they would call me. After the third day of not hearing anything, I went to the office at 9:30 at night. My dog was tied to a 3 foot leash to a counter and her feet were bleeding. I was very upset and asked how long she had been there and was told 3 days because she was too upset in the large cage. My dog was high on morphine and was strangulating herself on the leash and was skidding on the floor. There was no food or water available to her. The office staff was no help and acted as if this was my problem. They had been calling my ill mother for 3 days getting authorization for MRI's, ultrasounds, extra tests, etc. None of this was to my knowledge and I was stuck paying the bill. I was told to pay the $5500 and deal with the manager to get my refund. The manager was rude, not responsive, and minimized all my concerns. I called corporate, and after 10 calls, they felt they had given my dog ""quality care."" It is now December and VCA will only give me $311 for injections. \r I called the corporate manager back to explain which laws were broken and what could they do about it. I felt I was cheated, since they authorized someone to charge on my account, tied my loving dog to a counter, and let her injure herself. I have closed all the accounts at VCA Central Animal Hospital and I advise anyone with a love for their animal to go anywhere else. They are not receptive if a problem arises. VCA will do NOTHING for you if you have one. Pros: Open 24 hours Cons: Don't care about the pet owners, don't follow the laws more
