DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMAL! My dog died because of them. They wanted me to hurry up & pick up my dog so they could get $2,300.00 from me before he died. The sad part is that my dog could of been saved if these non caring in humane people would of done what they were suppose to do. Instead, they lied to me & wanted me to hurry & pick my dog up (knowing he was going to die soon) so they could get my money from me. This vet does not care about your animal , they are liars & a total rip off. My baby would be alive today if I would of taken him somewhere else. These people made my dog suffer & kept telling me that my dog is going to be fine. I picked my dog up Sunday evening & he died at 7:00 Monday morn. This place should be shut down before they kill more animals then they already have. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 10/6/2013

On Friday, October 4 I had a very bad experience when I took my golden retriever to the VCA Upland clinic for the third time because my dog has an ear hematoma. Dr. Johnson recommended a small surgery, which at that clinic has a very high cost. I was very upset that after paying for two treatments with costly antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs with no results, they told me I would now have to pay for a very costly surgery. I did not understand why they gave him antibiotics in the last two appointments if my dog does not have an infection, rather a hematoma. In short this was the last visit there and I definitely would not recommend anyone there. more

Dr. Eby is AMAZING! She loves her patients more than there owners money. She truly cares. I recommend VCA to anyone in need of veterinary services. I had an emergency they got me in right away. They quoted me a price over the phone and I ended up paying for a regular office visit because when I got there, there was a cancellation. So I paid regular price rather than emergency price. They did not try to sell me every test possible or ""pet"" Benadryl. They are top notch! more

Caring Treatment for Pets (And Their Humans) 9/3/2010

Wow. After reading all these disparaging reviews I have to ask myself if people who are dissatisfied write reviews more often than those who are satisfied. We took our cat to VCA to be spayed. Dr. Fong was very professional and pleasant. She offered helpful advice and we felt assured that Lizzie would be just fine. She came through the surgery with flying colors. The staff took great care of her, effectively managing her pain. Total cost, including initial exam, bloodwork and medications to take home was under $175 more

I just want to set the record straight. I know the staff at VCA Central. So I printed out these comments and showed them to the staff. I came away with a great feeling that there are two sides to every story because in pretty much every negative review there was the other side that told a completely different story and confirmed by more than one other who was there. \r One should just know after reading these minority bits of slander that ALL the people at VCA Central are heartbroken when something does go wrong with your pet whether it be their fault (which does not happen often) or the fault of nobody. Also remember that it is human nature to hear what you want to hear and to blame anyone other than yourself.\r VCA Central does not claim to be cheap but they do claim to be good, loving and through. They do live up to that. more

VCA SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN! 1/5/2010

DON'T TAKE YOUR PET HERE! Words cannot describe the horrible treatment my dog received at this animal hospital. These people don't care about the health of your beloved pet. They charge 200% more than other local veterinarians, keep you waiting forever to see the doctor and then afterwards to pay, receive medication, and leave - hours, I'm not at all kidding! Their fees are never standard - they will charge as much as they can because if you question the estimate you receive before treatment, they often will reduce the amount or offer discounts if you are a senior, student, pet is a puppy? go figure? Not at all professional or appropriate for a medical facility - more appropriate for a car lot! THEN! here's the absolute final straw for me - after getting horrible unprofessional discourteous treatment and paying 2X the customary local rate at other professional veterinary hospitals - I called (about 10 am) to have my pets medical record faxed to a nearby veterinary hospital where more

DON'T TAKE YOUR PET HERE !!! 12/31/2009

I took my Yorkie in when he was 6 months old for a rash and hair loss problem he suffered with. He is now 9 months old and still suffering. After I had already spent hundreds of dollars, they finally advised me to go to a Dermatologist who, in ten minutes time, told me that it was MANGE, something these supposedly experienced doctors could not identify in months time. Even my fourteen year old daughter who had done research on the internet came up with the diagnosis of mange, which I excused since I thought at the time I was working with proffesional, competent doctors. Well, I was sadly mistaken. Because it had gone treated incorrectly for so long he now suffers from even more infectious sores, which threaten my other pets. He has lost frightening amounts of fur, sores all across his torso, which caked with blood and fur causes his clothes, which we use to hide and protect his raw skin, to become stuck to him with the desiccated blood. It makes me cry just to think about his pain, his cries when we try to hold him. All they kept pushing was expensive biopsies which I could not afford at the time, but never did they offer a simple skin scraping. Not surprising, since it cost only a fraction of the price compared to the biopsy. Now, this is not even close to over. I am going to contact whoever I can to get some results. The special diet, the special shampoo and all the harmful medications that are bad for a puppy were given without a simple skin scraping. There is NO excuse for this. All I can manage to say at this point is: What the hell kind of facility is this? Cons: THE MOST INEXPERIENCED,MONEY HUNGRY VETS more

THE WORST VET EVER, DON'T EVEN GO THERE 9/24/2009

I took my cat there because I found him on the floor letharagic, vomited several times, and having severe diahhrea 2 in the morning. \r \r DON'T GO THERE IF YOU REALLY CARE FOR YOUR ANIMAL. \r \r The review right below me said GREAT CARE? Are you kidding? Also her information is incorrect. They don't have diagnostic facilities simple enough that mom & pop vet would have. Maybe her dog's sickness wasn't as severe that required more testing on site.\r \r I would pay higher prices if they care for animals better, but not for the care I received. I paid $2500.00. My cat was returned still letharegic, with diarrhea, with no apetite. He was hooked on IV for 4 days with just antibiotics and hairball medicine.\r \r THEY DIAGNOSED "HAIRBALL OR CANCER". \r \r I argued with them that he was hopping and jumping playing with his toys the same morning, and hairball nor cancer could not have been progressed in less than a day, but they didn't have any better knowlege to tell me otherwise.\r \r I'M SURE MY CAT HA more

GREAT CARE 6/16/2009

I have taken my dog into the hospital 2-3 times. We switched from another well respected clinic. You could see the love of animals in the vet who treated my dog, very caring and gentle. We had x-rays taken, and it seemed like everyone who she encountered cared. They showed me the x-rays, had another in-house doctor review them as well, showed us exactly what was wrong. No hesitation. It was nice they took appointments. Maybe a higher price than some other places, but for the care, immediate access to diagnosis equipment, on-site pharmacy, I will continue to go. They were referred by a local shelter because of their caring attitude toward pets. The only negative was that they take a long time to check you out after the appointment. more

LAST PLACE TO GO FOR GOOD CARE; LAST PLACE TO GO UNLESS U LIKE TO THROW AWAY LOTS OF $$$ 1/20/2009

This is the the second worst and most expensive place in the County (read below for first). They put my dog in their sick room with all the rest. He had very contagious kennel cough. The others were there with other serious illness and they could have easily gotten sick. My dog had a bad back, and despite my warnings, they were so rough with my dog he couldn't walk for month and he was there on an unrelated problem. I saw several people come up to the counter and argue that they were overcharged, their bills were thousands of dollars. I looked at my own bill and found they charged twice for most of the services! Everyone who caught their mistakes and pointed them out were treated rudely instead of receiving apologies. I found out that they charged THREE TIMES the price for medications that anyone else charged. Their medical care was inferior. Their treatment of customers was inferior. They only worse place is INLAND VALLEY ANIMAL HOSPITAL, they are even higher and they are outright abusive. Pros: Absolutely nothing good about this place. Go elsewhere! But not Inland Valley ER Cons: Overcharge for services, Many billing errors in their favor, put animals in danger, inferior care more

Money Hungry Operation 12/30/2008

I went to VCA Central Animal Hospital in Sept 08 on a Sunday because I had been there in the past and hadn't had any problems. My dog needed emergency surgery and I was given a quote of $3000. When I went to sign the quote it was changed to $5500 to $6000. The girl pressured me to sign it saying ""It will ONLY be around $3000. If it is more, then you can talk to the manager."" So I signed the form, not realizing they put the dog under my mom's account. I was told that I couldn't see my dog for 3 days since it would be too upsetting to her and they would call me. After the third day of not hearing anything, I went to the office at 9:30 at night. My dog was tied to a 3 foot leash to a counter and her feet were bleeding. I was very upset and asked how long she had been there and was told 3 days because she was too upset in the large cage. My dog was high on morphine and was strangulating herself on the leash and was skidding on the floor. There was no food or water available to her. The office staff was no help and acted as if this was my problem. They had been calling my ill mother for 3 days getting authorization for MRI's, ultrasounds, extra tests, etc. None of this was to my knowledge and I was stuck paying the bill. I was told to pay the $5500 and deal with the manager to get my refund. The manager was rude, not responsive, and minimized all my concerns. I called corporate, and after 10 calls, they felt they had given my dog ""quality care."" It is now December and VCA will only give me $311 for injections. \r I called the corporate manager back to explain which laws were broken and what could they do about it. I felt I was cheated, since they authorized someone to charge on my account, tied my loving dog to a counter, and let her injure herself. I have closed all the accounts at VCA Central Animal Hospital and I advise anyone with a love for their animal to go anywhere else. They are not receptive if a problem arises. VCA will do NOTHING for you if you have one. Pros: Open 24 hours Cons: Don't care about the pet owners, don't follow the laws more

They are a very caring animal hospital. They make sure they do everything they can for your pet. I recommend them to anyone that is an animal lover like me. more

WORST VETERINARY HOSPITAL IN UPLAND/INLAND VALLEY 7/15/2008

If you want your loved pet to live, you would re-think your decision to go here. The staff has horrible bedside manner and will treat your family and pet with no regard. They honestly should not even be working with people because they are so rude, insensitive, and unamicable. \r \r In our time of terror, the staff asked our family to leave and left us with nothing to hang on to. The vet said he had ""no idea"" what was making our dog sick. In the end, the vet also had no conclusions as to what went wrong, he told me that our dog merely ""died"" and they couldn't do anything about it. When I called to check how our loved one was doing, the staff put me on hold for 10 minutes and then told me that the doctor is too busy to give a description.\r \r ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS VETERINARY HOSPITAL IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR PET. THE STAFF HAD NO BESIDE MANNER NOR REGARD FOR OUR PET. AVOID THE HEARTACHE AND GO TO A VET OFFICE THAT TRULY CARES. THERE ARE MANY GREAT ONES IN THE UPLAND/INLAND VALLEY AREA. Pros: THERE ARE NO PROS Cons: overpriced, horrible bedside manner for the vets and office staff, lack of respect pets and their loving owners more

BEWARE!! 5/3/2007

I refused to be taken advantage of and I am going to make sure I let the world know that this VCA hospital should be over-looked, and not trusted! They do not have the best interest of the animal at heart, more like their pocketbooks is closer to their hearts...My dog's home, still swollen and in pain. He' s not eating, but drinking plenty. Good thing I got out while I could, any longer and I would have had to take out a 2nd mortgage just to keep up with their Jones's! - PLEASE BE CAREFUL-THINK MORALISTICALLY!! My Queensland Heeler was bitten by a rattlesnake "we think" at dusk on Sat, 4/28, we weren't home at the time, and didn't notice any symptoms until the following day, around 2pm in the afternoon. By then my guy had full blown envenomation. His face was 10x the size it should be, including 2 puncture wounds above the left eye. I went directly to this VCA hospital, only to be disgusted with the outrageous prices to treat him. I was definitely stressed when I arrived at their locat more
