In addition to veterinary services and products, the business sells gift items. I purchased a wall clock and returned it three days later because I was unable to remove the adhesive from the price sticker on the front of the clock without damaging the finish. They didn't have another clock of the same style to exchange it so I asked for a refund. They refused to credit back my credit card and refused a cash refund, saying that the company policy was that only the business owner could issue a refund. I was told I would receive a refund check in six to eight weeks. As of Dec 11, 2008, it has been over 15 weeks since I returned the clock and I still haven't received my $54.00 refund check. I have tried to reach the owner, Mrs. Kathy Griffiths, numerous times at the business unsuccessfully. She has yet to return any of my phone messages or those messages employees have said they would pass on to her. I have talked to the person who ""pays the bills"" three times, and she has told me repeatedly that neither she or any other staff members can help me as the only person in the business who can issue my refund is Mrs. Griffiths. This business practice is unethical, illogical, and possibly illegal. Upon research it appears that the return/refund policy of Sunset Animal Medical Center is possibly also in violation of the law as described in California Civil Code Section 1723.
