VCA Animal Hospital

I have been bringing my dog and 3 cats here for almost 2 years now. At first I didn't feel like the place was right for me. However my dog loves this place for boarding. I have a big guard dog who is not very friendly and he is afraid of being away from home. I could never board him until Sunset vet clinic they are dog whispers. My dog always loves being there and always comes home happy. Thank You for being so understanding a helpful I feel so happy knowing that they are caring for my animals. \r more

I do not recommend this vet at all. When I brought my cat in I thought I would be going to a team hospital, but I was locked in to just the one vet who origianally saw the pet. Everytime I tried to call to get advise or help I could not get help because the vet who saw my pet was not in. The vet is in 4 days out of 7, and woe is you if you need to contact them for help. I was treated like an outsider, as the one vet was the only one who would be able to help me. If I knew that they worked this way I would never have come there in the first place. Never before had I seen this service and treated this way. They are not personal and unkind. It is not a team hospital , but you have to pay another vet just to get another opinion. The vet also would not dismiss a rabie shot for my dying 17 year old cat and said that he would still have to have his shots. Not considerate or helpful. I found them again as somebody else has noted, they are into the money and more money. Woe is you if you cannot afford two check ups a year with all kinds of tests, because they don t care if you are low income. I will never return again, and am sorry I ever came here. Left out in left field so many times. Find a better place, and there are better places for sure where people are kind, considerate, and most of all compassionate. more

I have bounced from vet hospital to vet hospital in the Sacramento ara for years. Some were ok some were down right horrible. I was refered to Dr Griffiths by a friend a cuple of years ago. He and his staff have now saved the life of two of my pets. I can't say thank you enough. I have never meet kinder caring folks. The hospital is modern and the saff is very considerate and patient with all of our questions. I highly recomment Sunset Animal Medical Center. more

We've been very satisfied with our VET services. Alway friendly Vets, Vet Techs and Vet Front Office staff. Very reasonable and always willing to work in those unexpected emergencies. more

I went to Sunset on a referal from a friend, I have to say I was very impressed. I didn't have an appointment and I only waited about 20 minutes to be seen. My dog had a foxtail in his foot, they explained what a foxtail was and how they would go about removing it. They also gave me an estimate with both high and low pricing on how much it would cost to remove it. I asked a lot of questions and the Doctor didn't mind explaining it to me until I full understood. I was so thankful. I also purchased revolution while I was there, I brought it back to return it for Advantage Multi about a week later and it was no problem at all. I am very thankful to the staff. more

All this place cares about is the amount of money that you give them. I have had my pet there for a few years, now when I can't afford the care, they can't be bothered.- Even when she needs to be treated for the same exact same problem she always has. more

I brought my cat to the Sunset Pet Hospital for a ""slight"" emergency visit. It was a Sunday and my usual cat hospital was closed. I remembered the Sunset hospital and thought I would give it a try. When I called they did not have any openings, but they advised me to come in and wait. I am so glad I did. The staff was understanding and helpful and the Dr. was great. Not only was it cheaper than my regular cat hospital, but I felt that my cat was in great hands at Sunset! They have a customer for life. more

In addition to veterinary services and products, the business sells gift items. I purchased a wall clock and returned it three days later because I was unable to remove the adhesive from the price sticker on the front of the clock without damaging the finish. They didn't have another clock of the same style to exchange it so I asked for a refund. They refused to credit back my credit card and refused a cash refund, saying that the company policy was that only the business owner could issue a refund. I was told I would receive a refund check in six to eight weeks. As of Dec 11, 2008, it has been over 15 weeks since I returned the clock and I still haven't received my $54.00 refund check. I have tried to reach the owner, Mrs. Kathy Griffiths, numerous times at the business unsuccessfully. She has yet to return any of my phone messages or those messages employees have said they would pass on to her. I have talked to the person who ""pays the bills"" three times, and she has told me repeatedly that neither she or any other staff members can help me as the only person in the business who can issue my refund is Mrs. Griffiths. This business practice is unethical, illogical, and possibly illegal. Upon research it appears that the return/refund policy of Sunset Animal Medical Center is possibly also in violation of the law as described in California Civil Code Section 1723. more

The Fair Oaks Animal Clinic & Hospital is the absolute BEST in the city! Fast service, easy appts, friendly staff and the finest Drs you could ask for, besides all this, the price is more than fair. The staff treats your pets (kids) as if they were their own and always consider the parents feelings too. I would NEVER take my adoring kids anywhere else, I wouldn't even consider it! Not only do they genuinely care about the animals they treat, they are always helpful and involved with the animal owners as well. When my current dog needed an urgent surgery, Dr. Griffiths (who had already finished his work for the day) volunteered to drive all the way back to work to perform the surgery. In addition, both Dr. Arbios and Dr. Wallace have both performed multiple successful surgeries on my dog and have even called me at work when they knew I was worried about the outcome. I would trust these vets with the lives of any of my animals (or my own, if they would agree to be my doctor as well!) I had taken my dogs to this vet for several years. The last year it seemed they were more interested in what they could charge me and give my dog the least amount of attention. The doctor was never on time and when she showed up the exam took a minute or two and then she was gone. I quit going there because my dogs deserve better than that. Who want to pay big bucks and get as little for it as possible? Not me! more

I disagree wholeheartedly that all they care about is money. We rescued a neighborhood cat that had been run over and subsequently lost a leg. They helped us rehab the cat and ate tons of money. The doctors are personable and the staff is great. Their facilities have always been exceptional. We have been with them since 1989. more

Great people, great service. I was a walkin and they were wonderful with both of my dogs. I got them updated on all their shots and we were in and out pretty quickly. Pros: Nice People, very quick, were even open on Sunday. Cons: Undergoing renivations, but wasnt in the way of traffic at all! Its going to be really nice once they get it finished. more
