Tonight was my first trip to Poppies. My first impression was good. The place was well decorated, clean and cozy. We were promptly seated and the waiter arrived right away to take our drink order. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with a salad and my wife had the ""Eggs Guilermo"". My salad was fresh and good. So far, so good. When our entrees arrived, my opinion of the place changed. The bacon on my burger was so overcooked, it was black. I don't know how anyone would think that could be served. Despite having been skewered with a toothpick, I had to reassemble the whole thing. The cook didn't bother to put the buger on the bun. The fries were undercooked and greasy. On top of that, it was cold. My wife's dish was very mediocre, although it was hot. I didn't complain or send it back. (As an aside, I almost never send food back. i don't feel like having my food adulterated with saliva or something worse when it comes back.)\r

The other comment I have is on the atmosphere. About halfway through our visit, the bartender turned on some music. I don't think playing Timbaland and Beyonce really improved the atmosphere. \r

I'll probably give it one more try. The steaks and prime rib looked good. The service was good. But I definitely won't order a burger again.
