I called WVP to estimate replacement for a garden window and a sliding door. Their sales person came, measured, and gave me an estimate. I contacted the sales person a few weeks later that I am ready to do a deal. He had to get an OK from the manager, faxed me a contract, which I signed. WVP charged my credit card for the down payment amount promptly. In a few days another person came to do the exact measurements so that they could place an order for the window/door. Promised to call me when the order is placed and provide an ETA. No feedback for a week, I called to check the status. A person I talked to told me that they must have placed the order and I just need to wait. I insisted on getting the exact informaiton, no call back. In a couple of days I got hold of another person. Again, generic info on the process, no specifics. I insisted again on the specific information. In the evening an owner (?) called me to tell me that they don't want to do my job because it's more complicated to replace my window then they thought and they don't want the liability! When I asked about the contract, which does not let me back out without forfeiting the down payment, he said that I should look at the contract -- they had not signed it! When I pointed out that any court would consider charging a downpayment a definitive proof of signing a contract, the owner told me that he'd credit my credit card right away (and did credit indeed). Meanwhile I lost the time and it was too late to start with another company that late in the Fall.\r
