The cafe Nolita has been waiting for! 9/24/2007

As a Nolita resident, I've grown tired of the trendy hipster spots like Gitane and Habana. After coming home recently from vacation, I noticed that Panino Sportivo had been shut down, and Prince Street Cafe had taken it's place. I went in yesterday as a skeptic, but trust me, this place is here to stay. I ordered the carrot ginger soup (absolutely amazing) and the Shrimp Wrap (again... sooooo good). Apparently former exec chef Gary Volkov from OIBL is the owner along with former colleague Konstyantyn. OIBL, its your loss. From the cozy decor to humble (although obviously inexperienced) waitstaff, I can tell this place is going to become a second home for me. I came back today (talking advantage of that wifi) to enjoy a cup of coffee and some bread pudding (cinnamon and chocolate... wow), listening to the staff, the locals, and watching the chefs interact with people, telling stories and thanking the customers for trying them out. So refreshing. Although there are definately some kinks they need to work out, the nice thing is ....it's almost a family environment here. One that I'd like to become a part of. I'll definately be back. Pros: Cheap, Friendly, Great food, And Relatively Unknown Cons: Inexperienced Staff more
