Every year my wife and I make our way to Fredericksburg at the end of October for the Food and Wine Festival which I highly recommend. We finish our day with a few beers and a good hearty dinner at Friedhelms. I was directed here by a friend in college from Fredericksburg. If you don't spend a little while at the bar and mellow out with a couple authentic German beers before you have dinner you have missed half of the experience. I recommend being ready to wait for a table and forgiving of the staff who are over extended but typically very nice. The food is wonderful and a really good mach for German beer. You have to not be in a hurry to eat and just loose yourself in the abundant atmosphere that has to do as much with the people as the decor. If you are looking for a new dining and cultural experience this is your place. If you are looking to eat and go then try some of the other wonerful places in Fredericksburg.
