i wouldnt say horrible. though somewhere in between horrible and mediocre. 8/29/2007

I recently dined at sweet devil moon. DO NOT DO IT. it doesn't matter how much you crave a sangria for three dollars, just walking in isn't good for your health. the outside patio had furniture that looked like it had never been cleaned. the roof was dripping on us when we walked in. so we chose to dine indoors. The interior reeked of a dead animal, more than likely one in the rodent family. it was really hot inside, and what did they have to remedy that? a fan much like the ones you can buy at target. then we sit and are greeted by our waitress. she seems nice enough, but as we later found, smoking and sitting at the bar were more suited to her tastes. (later she actually decided to sing with the band instead of getting my date his well needed/deserved third beer.) I saw other employees running frantically to keep their guests happy---i guess we did not luck out this time. We ordered our food. fish tacos, which were ok, covered with a spicy chipotle sauce with a mild pico. palta rellena, avacado with chicken salad-when it arrived, it seemed as though some strange rice noodle alien had consumed it. there was more of the rice noodles (I suppose a garnish, because it wasn't listed on the menu.) than there anything else. the scallops we had were prepared properly and offered not only spice but sweetness. these were the highlights. the yuca frita, the mussels, the crab cakes, and the paella were all unsatisfying. the paella was bland, and it shouldn't even warrent the name paella. the yuca frita was boring, with sauces that didn't inspire. the crab cakes were mushy, lacking crab as well as flavor. and the mussels. oh, the mussles. they were a disgusting blend of too much tequila and what seemed like frozen shellfish. Our dinner was finally finished, and with only 2 dessert options, we didn't feel the need to even go there. avoid this place if you are looking for a worthwhile dining experience. and if you just want to drink sangria, there is better to be had. Pros: all boring and mundane. no pros. no kids allowed. Cons: service:lacking. food:bad. bathrooms:disgusting. for parents: no kids allowed. more
