I was required to undergo career assesment and counseling by my denomination prior to my ordination as a minister. I made a big mistake going to the Northeast Career and Counseling Center. Before sharing one word with me, the Director of the Center decided I was not a good ministry prospect and spent a lot of time trying to convince me to drop out of seminary. This was based on her particular interpretation of my Myers-Briggs test results ... Myers-Briggs does not directly address career choice. Other tests I took ... apparently ignored by the Director ... indicated ministry WAS a sound career choice for me. I was also told by an assistant, on more than one occasion, that my file was ""larger than most."" I did not take that as a compliment ... and it was not meant as one.
Pros: Convenience of location
Cons: Quality of ""counseling"" and assessment; clerical ineptitude
