Very unprofessional and traumatizing 12/2/2009

I saw this person several years ago (2006) as part of the requirements for ordination in my denomination. From the beginning, I experienced her as very unprofessional. Her materials were copies of copies of copies...very faded, crooked and tacky. She never was able to retrieve my resume from all the materials I sent her. Cons: Expensive; unhelpful; damaging more

Bad Psychology 10/22/2008

My experience of the NE Career and Counseling Center was very unpleasant and emotionally damaging. I was referred to the NECCC for a career assessment. I spent six weeks answering and writing extensive questions and personality inventories (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Sixteen Personality Factors--16PF, etc.). My first three hours at the Center was spent filling out the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2) and the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III (MCMI-III). After a break we met for the first face-to-face interview, where I was told what her vocational and psycological assessment was, and she was certain the MMPI-2 and MCMI-III would concur. The next day we reviewed the results of the MMPI & MCMI and she said that the instruments confirmed her pre-concieved assessments. Pros: Beautiful location -- Princeton, NJ Cons: Expensive more

Mind Games 7/9/2007

I was required to undergo career assesment and counseling by my denomination prior to my ordination as a minister. I made a big mistake going to the Northeast Career and Counseling Center. Before sharing one word with me, the Director of the Center decided I was not a good ministry prospect and spent a lot of time trying to convince me to drop out of seminary. This was based on her particular interpretation of my Myers-Briggs test results ... Myers-Briggs does not directly address career choice. Other tests I took ... apparently ignored by the Director ... indicated ministry WAS a sound career choice for me. I was also told by an assistant, on more than one occasion, that my file was ""larger than most."" I did not take that as a compliment ... and it was not meant as one. Pros: Convenience of location Cons: Quality of ""counseling"" and assessment; clerical ineptitude more
