A memorable evening at Royal India in the Gaslamp 7/4/2007

If you like good Indian food and are with a great company then take my personal advise to go to Royal India in the Gaslamp on 4th and market. My personal experience at Royal India was superb and unforgettable. I met Sony during her visit from UK to San Diego who is here for an internship in Nephrology in UCSD. During our Lunch on in UCSD lunch was delivered by Royal India and Sony loved the food so I wanted to surprise her by taking her to Royal India's fine dinning. Upon arriving we valet our parking right in front of the restaurant and walked inside. We were amazed at the decor. On the left side there is large waterfall with Indian Brass large statues sitting inside beautiful stone work and then there is a large wall that has arch shape and very beautiful stone work done on it we landed in the lounge room that has a beautiful hand carved wooden bar and right side of the restaurant has very unique and beautiful stonework wall. On the whole it is very elegantly designed restaurant which you do not get to see often. We ordered Mango Soup and chicken lettuce wrap as starters and for main course we had Karahi Chicken and Lamb kabab with Garlic nan and basmati rice came with it. Mango soup was really delicious with cumin and corriander taste in it and Lettuce wrap was made with chicken tikka kabab sliced and sauted with curry and served on top of lettuce leaves. Our main course Karahi chicken was flavourful tender chicken cooked with bell peppers and sliced onions and tomatoes and Lamb Kabab marinated in yogurt and spices just melts in your mouth it was awsome and Garlic Nan bread was just lip smacking. On the whole it was the greatest Indian meal we have had. Sony said the food was even better then Indian food in UK and for ambience Royal India is the best Indian restaurant she has ever been to. We look forward to going back to Royal Indian again. Pros: Beautiful ambience, peaceful atmosphere and lot of artistic collections to look around while you are dinning. Cons: I can not go to Royal India every day. But I wish I could. more
