Incompetent administrators, frustrated teachers with high turn-over, no real educational value in the classroom, save your money 5/6/2007

My son chose to go to Boys' Latin because he had friends there. I didn't do my homework and thus, didn't realize the schools reputation as the school of last resort. The reputation, sadly, is true. Parents with enough money to donate generously can get their sons out of every fight, every case of plagiarism, etc. while parents who work hard to pay the tuition bills have to watch their sons pay prices that others don't pay. There is no honor, and racism and homophobia are rampant. Perhaps even encouraged. The head of the upper school seems unable to listen to parents - she lives in her own world and cannot take in information - she cuts you off, doesn't address the real problems and is a blackberry junkie who cannot sustain a conversation. The headmaster seems lost and there feels like no connection between any of the members of administration. It seems more like a tug-of-war for power and the students are lost in the cross fire. The faulty who are excellent quickly disappear. The teachers who show up to collect their paycheck more than to teach kids seem to stay forever. In two years my son did not learn how to write - simply how to play poker. I have pulled my son out and we are moving on. Do your homework before sending your son here. The rumors really are true. \r \r Good Luck. Pros: lacrosse and football teams Cons: educational value, administration, some teachers more
