My husband and I tried the Veranda for lunch yesterday. The space was casual, pleasant, quiet. Our server was gracious and attentive beyond the call of duty. Being a hot tea drinker, I appreciated the variety of teas available. The menu had an interesting selection of sandwiches, salads, and lunch items. The actual food preparation unfortunately did not exhibit the same care or attention to detail as the menu, the concept, and the service. We started out with the baba ganoush, which was fresh and tasty, though it was not well enough chopped up and thus awkward to eat. I had the New Orleans Crawfish salad, which was very good except for a few chunks of brown, spoiled avodaco, yuk. My husband was put off by some chunks of undercooked chicken in his salad. Carelessness in the kitchen keeps this place from being what it seems to aspire to.
Pros: Good service, nice location, easy parking, not crowded at lunch
Cons: Careless food prep
