Please do not believe the good / average reviews! The Hotel Carter was hands down one of the most terrifying experiences for my friends and I when we stayed there, and we certainly don't consider ourselves sheltered. We have traveled all over the world and are not high maintenance, nor are we easily scared. From the moment we entered the hotel, we knew we had been completely deceived by the pictures posted on the internet; 100% false advertising! You will be lucky if the employees behind the bullet-proof glass in the lobby speak any English. Our bell boy (and I use that term very loosely) was unable to get the lock on our door open so we were forced to change rooms right from the start. The sheets on the bed were stained and we were not successful in getting them replaced. What was hanging from the windows was nothing more than faded thin sheets. The sink in the bathroom was rusted as were the exposed pipes on the ceiling and wall. The toilet flooded from the first use. The windows were not at all insulated, and even though we were on the 8th floor, we could hear the loud street noise and dance music from the club at the bottom of the building all night, every night for the 5 nights we stayed there. I could go on, but I guess what I'm trying to say is there is no amount of money saved that is worth staying at the Hotel Carter. In fact, they should pay customers for staying there. Pay a bit more and stay ANYWHERE BUT there!
