unnecessary fixes 12/16/2007

in reading the previous reviews I thought I'd find a trust worthy place. I disagree strongly. I've had my jetta for over 17 years, so I know my vehicle. I'm new to the area and hadn't found a mechanic. I did, but it's not here! I was having issues with my gear shifting. They said it was the bushels and needed new ones. INnanycase the problem is better but still problematic, so I'm thinking NEW bushels weren't even done. The mechanic with the german accent told me that the water pump needed to be replaced and I agreed. Even then he seem and behaved shady like. The water pump hadn't been replaced in 4 years so I agreed. HOwever another mechanics, 2 months later doesn't think the water pump is new. The german mechanic also said I was leaking oil really badly. However 2 months later I have yet to see a drop of oil. Whichi lead me to believe they're really good at tricking people who don't know cars. They do simply things to seem credible but trick you into bigger things that are unecessary, yet we don't even know if they do a thing. If you hadn't an issue to begin with, then how will you know if something was fixed. I don't trust them. KNow your car and get a second opinion. They've been around a while, but doesn't mean they are completely honest!!! Pros: it's not the dealer, been around a while Cons: they don't have the latest technology for newer cars, a lot vehicle sitting probably cause the owners were tricked into things they can't afford more
