I generally don't like to write scathing restaurant reviews-- but my experience at Bistro Ka tonight was so lackluster I feel the need to warn others. It's true the restaurant has beautiful modern decor and a seemingly well designed space. This, however, does not make up for the mediocre food and complete breakdown of their service routines. While waiting for our table, my boyfriend and I headed to the bar for some drinks. Not only did the bartender never approach us, but he was busy regaling his new best friends at the other end of the bar with stories of his ""fresh-squeezed lime juice made from limes."" He also seemed to fling liquor about like it was confetti, sloshing it all over the place. The couple next to us received their drinks about fifteen minutes apart from each other. (They ordered the exact same drink at the same time.) After we were finally seated, no wait staff approached us for another fifteen minutes. I know this because we had been timing our stay, and we were on the verge of walking out. Our waitress finally appeared flustered and out of breath. She took our order, and for the rest of the dinner, we were served by a variety of the restaurant staff from busboys to each of the two hostesses in turn. I've never seen such chaos. The food itself was mediocre. Our carpaccio medley with tuna, salmon, and white tuna arrived without the promised ponzu dressing. The waitress hurried up to our table with a squeeze bottle in hand to fix it. All the meats we ordered were under-seasoned. At least our baked lobster sushi roll was decent, but i did notice the imitation crab filling was strangley reminiscent of the bulk sushi you get at Costco. Maybe Bistro Ka would be a great place to stop by for a drink on some festive weekend, but that's only if you can get a drink at all. Otherwise, save your time and money and go to a real restaurant.
Pros: Nice atmosphere
Cons: mediocre food, bad service
